I work as a volunteer at UCSD and just wanted to say thanks for making Mike such a wonderful personality and someone whom speaks very highly of you. James lent me a copy of your book and I could not literally put it down. I didn't know whom you were before, watch cycling and know of your team, but your book was amazing. Took maybe 4-5 days. I had the chance to meet Dave Shields at the 2008 Tour de California. He was promoting your book, of course, at the Rose Bowl. Sorry you weren't able to attend. It would have been nice to have personnally met you. So I did the next best thing and bought your book! Incredible. God has an amaaaaazing hand on you, Saul. Thank you for being obedient to his direction in giving others hope. I can identify with your team rallying behind you while you were in your coma.
I belong to a 50 team member women's cycling group here in Northern California. Our name is the Bodacious Biking Babes! Some of the ladies have overcome cancer, back surgery, and broken bones. It is a great comfort to have support from a group when going through tough journeys like health problems. We would be honored if you could come speak at a fundraiser for our BreathEasy American Lung Association bike ride coming up in Sept. Let me know if you would be interested. Thank you.

I just finished reading your book. It was recommended to me by my coworker. She is a physical therapist and I\'m an occupational therapist at a rehab hospital in phenix city, al. Your book has really touched me and helped me to better understand what my patients and their families are going through as I help them to slowly recover. Your are truly a miracle and a work of art! Just read your book. Moved me to tears in bits. You have showed exceptional strength and courage to come through what you have and lets not forget your mum and dad. They are a strenght that cannot be compared.
I have a better undrstanding of what goes on in your life and what you want to achieve. I wish I had half the drive and determination you have. I am an ex international badminton player and therefore I understand what you need to achieve in your sport. I hope you achieve evrything you set out to achieve in cycling and in life.

Hey Saul, we can’t believe it has been two years. What a rollercoaster ride. You are one amazing individual (like we need to tell you that). Although we would much rather be cheering you on in Europe, what you have accomplished in the last two years is something special. Hello Saul,
I had a similar accident while riding in Portland, OR. and have not been the same ever since and have not gotten back on the back to this date. It really open my eyes and changed the way I think and I started voluteering at hospitals and helping those in my situation and other detrimental disorders. I lived in San Diego and worked at U.C.S.D. and the fine folks there and with Ms. Mills whom told me all about what you did for a boy at the hospital and think its just wonderful when someone in your status gives back helps and gives hope to those who wake up every morning and say "I can't anymore." Your a true inspiration and I would like to read your book if I can find it. Ms. Mills told me about your website and I'll start sharing with all those pediatric children I work with in S.F.

I had a similar accident in 1987. i was riding in Houston and was hit by a police car at 6:15 AM on 8/1/87. Was in a coma for a week, hospital for 6 months. Closed head injury. Recovered and have been doing multisport for 20 years since. ~300 events. 17 Ironmans. 15 + marathons.
Great that you created this site to support this type of injury. |
