Hey Saul- Holding your breath under water for a long time reminded me of how you would do that when you were little! Ha Ha-I hope the therapist didn't get too shook up. Keep up the hard work. Tell Polli we said hello.

I just read that article about the fish oil treatment and the first thing that thought of was, "I wonder if the UCI would approve of that?" If you did those treatments, and came back to win a bunch of races I can just see some paper in Europe saying you were on special drugs.

Hi Saul,
I sent this link when you were still in the coma, but I thought you'd like to see it now that the haze is starting to clear.

A former colleague of mine, a cyclist who was himself seriously injured after being hit by a car on a tt course, took a special interest in the guy in this story, which is incredible. As yours already is.

I remember that after my brain injury I was very keen on reading about people who had recovered well enough to do the things that were important to me.

Mac on that chocolate, son. Look what it's done for Jan Ullrich.

Stay strong. And keep doing new stuff for you mom, especially this Sunday (hint, Mother's Day). When I was able to stand on one foot and touch my nose she was really moved.

Saul - just wanted you to know, that when I'm training and I have a very hard lift in the program, I dedicate my effort to you - because I know that you are giving all you have and I hope to add a little bit more by sending my energy your way. Hey Saul, so good to hear of your progess, I imagine your Mother's day gift was the best thing you could have given you. I rode my first century last weekend, the 3 Mountain 3 State in chattanooga, and your example was a true catalyst to me to finish it and not even unclip on Lookout mtn. Keep pressing on, and we are all looking forward to you continued improvement, See you back on the road somewhere in Dalton sometime!

No hurries, take your time for full and complete recovering. You're young enough that we'll have plenty of other years to watch you stomp the competition! Take care

Hi Saul-Good to hear you are on the road to recovery.I am an avid(rabid?)cyclist.I am 58 and at 53 had a bilateral frontal lobe injury and a few pretty good physical injuries+spent 3 motnhs in the hospital.Like you said the brain injury is the hardest of all.I clawed my way back to mediocrity-you will be back at the top again. You may end up somewhat different-not worse just different.Good luck to you and your family-they will be the best domestiques you will ever have.

Hey Saul,
My husband sent me an email about your accident and recovery. He is just getting into the biking scene (it's VERY time consuming!!! :)). Anyways, he has been following your story. I am assuming that you are at Shepherd Center in Atlanta. That is my old stomping ground. I was the 1st Occupational Therapist to start up the ABI unit at Shepherd Center back in probably 1995. I hope those therapists are treating you well and not giving you too hard of a time! :) I am going to say a special prayer to God for you tonight that He may heal you completly. Hang in there- the road to brain injury recovery might be long and painful, but will be many wonderful experiences that you and your family will cherish for a lifetime. Keep the faith! I know you are being well taken care of in the rehab center - those folks are the best! They have helped miracles happen - you are in the perfect place to work on yourself.

Hope you and your mom enjoyed the ice cream. Please let me know when you want more or if I can bring anything else to you and your family.

You remain in my prayers.
