Just wanted to wish you all the best as you work toward a full recovery and your place in the peloton.
As a cyclist you're no stranger to hard work, suffering, disappointment, setbacks, and ultimately the success that comes from conquering the former obstacles.
Best of luck, Hans

Saul,
Keep up the great work. You make all of us Georgia cyclists proud! I remember when you were a young punk tearing up the races here in the South. It has been awesome watching your career grow and I know you can return to the top. Good luck and see you on the road.

Dear Saul - You look great in the new pictures! I had to giggle - the PT folks had you on a Schwinn - bet it's been a while since you rode one of those :grin I hope you feel better every single day and know that you're getting a lot of good thoughts beamed your way.

Saul it is so great to see how far you have come since we brought you back to the states from France. You said that you would be back riding in a year and from the looks of things you will. Keep up the hard work. We think of you often and pray for your complete recovery.

Rehab sucks. I know it. After endoing my TT bike during a race, I was stuck in rehab for a month plus. Listen to the docs and let your family help. Best of luck and here is to you.

Hey Saul, I'm very happy to hear that you are well on your way to full recovery. News of your accident hit particularly close to my heart, because just this past December I, too, had a serious head injury from cycling. Fortunately, I am also on my way to full recovery. If you need somebody to talk to about it or if you want to see some fun CT scan images of my accident, drop me a note.

All the best,

Saul, sorry we missed you this past weekend. I had a big stage race in Nashville; even got to wear yellow for a day…I had that green ribbon on my handle bar and was thinking of you often. Man, it’s good to see you back on the bike. I never doubted you for one minute. Keep up the good work. School is out for the summer so when you are around and want some company on your trainer rides give me a call.

Dear Saul,
I'll try to send this one again..
It's so good to see you doing so well! You were on my mind this weekend and I thought I need to call your mom to see how you are doing. ...Well, to our wonderful surprise, we opened the Sunday Daily Citizen News and there you were, and Monday, too. We are elated about your ongoing recovery. With your excellent doctors in France and here at Shepherd and the millions of prayers around the world - you are on your way to a 100% recovery - it certainly appears. Thanks be to God! You have such strength and determination to get completely well. And with all tjhe love and prayers of your family and friends here and all over the world, and all the good care, you will be well.
We are Tour de France fans and Tour de Georgia fans - we've seen you race the Tour de Georgia twice - even went to Atlanta for the finish the first time. We always try to keep up with you. I subbed for you a few times at
DHS and know you are a very kind, fine young man, and a good, conscientious student, too.
You are on our prayer list at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Thierry Urbain called us on April 6, to tell us about your accident on April 4. We put you immediately on our prayer chain. There were so many prayers going up at tha critical time, just from our church alone. We continue to pray for your full recovery. We look forward to your getting stronger and stronger each new day until you are well.
May God continue to bless you and take good care of you,
Your fans, Hebe and Ken Wall

Saul, So glad to hear you are getting better. PT may be long and hard but it does work. I was rear-ended while on my motorcycle last year and did some damage to my back. So severe that my therapist still says no to riding my Orca. It will come, for both of us. Keep smiling you winner. A 58 year-old roadie.

Hi Saul...

I too had a cycling accident on Nov. 19th of last year... broke 3 ribs, collapsed lung, shattered left clavicle, broken left hand, concussion, other assorted hairline fractures... I ended up with a helicopter ride and a chest tube. The former was 'interesting', the latter I could have done without!

Anyway... I had a great Orthopedic Surgeon who reassembled the bones, and last weekend I completed my first 'real' ride... 128 miles, over 4 mountain climbs (13,000+ feet), and finishing on a Cat-1 climb that really kicked my butt!

It was great to be back!

Even looking back on three months of pretty constant pain, I can tell you I had some real tears of joy while descending my beloved Blue Ridge Mountains... I'll never be 1/10th the rider you are, but I bet I love cycling and the challenge of a 5Km, 12% hill as much as you do!

Get well soon, buddy!

Your fan,

- Rick

Saul...you are my new inspiration! I am an avid cyclist and amateur racer and was hit by a car in February. I needed re-constructrive surgery and still going through PT now. You are very courageous and lucky to have so much support all around you. I wish a very speedy recovery and look forward to following your cycling career.

Your photos show a marked improvement. You will get back there, just give it time. It is just great to see you on a bike. You have a lot of seasons ahead of you so as hard as it is to miss some of this one, you'll be OK. Hey! I'm 55 so I don't have many racing seasons left. Keep working. It will pay off.

hi saul,

my carrer was over b4 yours really started - a crash a few weeks after the tour de france 2000 cost me almost my life, and the sight of my right eye has gone since.
long was the tunnel I was, but it's like a mountain stage as a sprinter: as long as your legs move, your bike will get closer to the finish, which you will eventually pass. coming back into life, or a sporting career is never easy - but it is easier for us sportsmen, who are used to make sacrifices and work hard fr succes.
keep this light on the end of the tunnel in sight and focus it - because it feels great when you come out and enjoy it!!
full, and speedy recovery wishes
from germany - you will make it!!
