Saul,
Your Mournful Dove touch my heart.
I hope that this poem I wrote along time ago will give you hope that you are someone very special and that someone very special is watching out for you. You someday will go back across the ocean but never forget where you came from.

In The Rain

In the dark of night he went away in the pouring rain,
Since that rainy night Heaven's gates
have poured to remind us all of the Angel gain.
Are these tears from Heaven for the ones he left behind, or tears of joy for who he now sees.
Bless the rain for these are God's tear drops from above to remind us all, he takes special Angels to watch
over us even in the rain. vera
Comment: Not bad, Not Bad.. Lots of love. too you!!!

Saul,
It is fantastic that you can ride the Tour of California this year. You are an inspiration to everyone who has heard your story. I was praying for your recovery when you were in the hospital in a coma, because we share a common history, sort of. I had a cardiac arrest while I was cycling that caused me to crash 14 months ago and nearly drown. I ended up in a creek by the side of the road with my heart in ventricular fibrillation. I woke from a coma 3 days later in a hospital and later had a quad bypass surgery. Fortunately, I too have been blessed by God and was able to ride 3000 miles last year. So I will continue to be your biggest fan in the northwest and hope to watch you compete again someday. Come and ride the STP with us. Miracles happen!

Hey Saul keep the great work up! Hey are you auctioning off any your CA team gear? It would be great to buy a vest or gloves/socks for a great cause. Thanks and keep it up!

Saul--
I recently heard your truly AMAZING story of determination. Your progress is unreal and I know that it doesn't come at no cost. I commend your efforts and you are certainly a role model for us all. Because of this I was wondering if you may be interested in speaking with elementary age children in our area about bike safety in conjunction with the Tour de Georgia coming through our county? I'm not certain how to contact you so I will leave my contact info here. I hope to hear from you!!

Saul,

It has been a while since I checked out your site. Last time I was here you were complaining about the spare tire you found. Well it looks as though you lost it again.
Dude you look fit. The sport of cycling is full of examples of perservearance and determination. Your story is one that everyone can look at and find hope. Its crazy how something so bad can lead to so much good.
Dude your a stud in my book. HOPE the next picture I see is of you on the podium.

Much love & respect to you & your fam.

Hey Saul! This is Justin Hale's sister from Merced. I am so glad to hear that you're doing so well..and in France too!! I'm in Bordeaux for school until June and I would LOVE to come and watch some races with Credit Agricole this season and visit with you. I don't know if you're going to be going back and forth between the states and France, but if you're ever going to be in the Sud-Ouest area I would love to visit. And the south is only a train trip away for me, I would love to make a weekend out of it to watch some races..I miss watching cycling so much! It'd be cool to keep in better contact with you so if you ever have the chance send me an e-mail (bhale@ucsc.edu) and I have a French cell too. Keep training hard and I hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Saul!
A mutual friend, Will, told me about you and I found your charity ride online. I think it's great and I hope to be able to come from south GA to ride it. If you ride with him, don't take it easy - he needs to train hard so I don't have to smoke him again like at Sequatchie! Hope to see you at the charity ride the end of March! I love your website!

Enjoyed all of the pictures from your trip back to France. Tell Yvonne & Jim hello. Your poem is very true, it said a lot about the Saul we remember from past races and it says a lot about the Saul, you've become!! You are a fine young man and I am sure many people agree. Keep up all the good, hard work and we can't wait to see you in ALL the races!!!!

Saul - great to see you are back up and peddling! My brother, who lives in Dalton, and I are in a very serious, although exceptionally congenial one-upsmanship battle. He claims to be riding with you saturday, I say he's yankin' my chain...he lies to me alot. If by some freak chance he's telling the truth, please drop him like a bad habit, look back, and tell him Irv says hi!

I just got the January issue of Pro Cycling magazine and saw the picture of you in the mag. Good to hear that you are recovering. I was run over by a truck when I was seven and as you did had to relearn how to do everything over. I am a big fan of cycling and feel our stories are similar because of my accident. I would like to meet you. In fact I am going to the Tour De Georgia in 2007 on April 21 at Stone Mountain. My email is deuce1.1@netzero.net
Glad you are doing better.
