This is part of the Georgia Cup Series. I didn\'t know if you are going to be in town but that would be a good race and very close to Dalton. It is just south of you on I-75. Thought maybe it would be a good tune-up race in your preperations for your Tri-season. Take care. Lisa |

Gerry from Dublin, CA | Signed on: Thu 19 Feb 2009 03:54:57 PM MST Saul My wife suffered a severe TBI last May due to a cycling accident. Although every brain injury is different, I’ve used your progress and experience to help give me hope in the degree of recovery my wife will experience. You’ll be happy to know things continue to progress, and she is coming through this journey with better results than many doctors could have hoped. Thank you for staying public with your life and the journey you’ve gone through.

Bill Nottingham from Wilmington, Delaware | Signed on: Wed 04 Feb 2009 06:53:27 PM MST Have read your articles in various journals. It is important for all of the world to hear about how to come back. Another one like you is Nick Vujicic who was born without arms or legs. I too have ridden much, climbed, hiked, scuba, etc. Hit a deer and heavy brain and skull damage. I have lost the sight in my left eye. Trying to return to riding and all. Hard to do for good periperal field coverage but will keep trying again and again like you. Thank you for your determination. We all need that. |

Pam Murphy from flumptious@mopane.org | Signed on: Mon 26 Jan 2009 07:07:57 AM MST My husband just suggested I look at this site. I haven't read anything yet, but I will. The reason I'm interested is that, in 2005, I fell off my bike in France. I was in a coma for weeks, hospital for months, and off work for 18 months. I am still 'blind' (officially - I see fine forwards and to my left, but I see nothing to my right) and physically disabled (my right side does not work properly - my handwriting is horrific - and my speech is not right). Headway is the Brain Injury charity in Britain, where I'm from. I ran the London Marathon last year, and raised £4000 for them. Right then, I guess I'll look at your blog. |

Ken Dong from Seattle, WA | Signed on: Mon 01 Dec 2008 11:22:19 AM MST Saul, I read about you first in Bicyling Magazine last year and was wondering how your recovery from brain injury has been going since that story was written. I am sure that you are receiving outstanding care in Georgia or Utah (not sure where u live now) I have a close friend who is medical director of the Brain Injury Unit at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. He has shared with me some incredible strides made in the road to recovery of athletes who have had brain trauma. When I visited him recently, I thought about your situation. I thought I would pass that along to you, wishing you the best. Sounds like you are well. Congrats on running the NYC Marathon! |

Bonnie Hicks (Blackw from Pennsauken NJ | Signed on: Mon 27 Oct 2008 08:05:16 PM MST Saul I came across this website because I googled my brothers name (Evan Blackwell with his work Pedal Pusher Bike shop) I found on Dec 14 2007 he left you a message. My brother was struck by a car on Oct 18 2008 he has been in a coma since and has had 2 surgeries. It doesn't look good but we are keeping positive. I don't truthfully know what I am looking for being here, You obviously touched my brother who at the time had no connection with TBI. Positive thoughts and prayers please for our family... As you must know it is devastating not only to the individual but the family to watch someone they love who was full of life and laughter lay bedridden with no real idea what lays ahead Comment: We have you in our thoughts and prayers. It is one of the hardest roads you will go down. Yvonne Raisin |
