Saul, I've read about your accident and inspiring recovery. I'm happy to see the amazing progress you have made.

I'd like to bring Ryan McKnad to your attention. Ryan is a cat 4 racer in Oregon who suffered a severe injury during a downhill sprint at a race about three weeks ago. He was in an induced coma for about a week. He's making very slow progress recovering.

I don't know Ryan but his friends and family are updating his condition on a blog: http://www.ryanmcknab.blogspot.com/

I think it would mean quite a bit to the Ryan and his supporters if you checked out the blog and left a note.

Thanks.

Hi Saul, Big fan of your team!
I always like reading up on you and seeing how your doing! Glad to see that you will be racing back over here. I also like reading your blogs and am excited about reading what kind of training you will be doing. Keep it up as there are soo many that want to see you back and racing in one of the 3 grand tours and maybe getting on the podium. Adios

Hi Saul,
It was great meeting you and Mike today at the Kamas "Rockstar" gas station. It isn't very often you run into a pro rider out on a ride! You're such an inspiration - Terry kicked it up a notch after we talked (ugh for me). We wish you the best of luck and can't wait til you're back in the peloton.

Saul, I've been hearing about Aleeza for a few months now on your site and not once did you mention that she is Dave Z's little sister. I had to find out in ProCycling Magazine. What a cyclng pedigree your kids will have! Glad to hear you have been cleared to race. The hard work has paid off.

I suffered a traumatic brain injury in 1977, I had stopped racing and went back to college to finish my degree. I was in an auto accident and was in a coma for 35 days. My recovery was successful because of all the encouragement I recieved and because of my conditioning. My brain is 45% atrophied and I don't care. I do the best I can. I rode 10,000 miles a year for 4 years and then fell to 8500 miles and 7200 last year. People cannot believe I suffered the injury I have and for that I thank God. I have permanent eye damage due to 4th Nerve Palsy. But I do not let this stop me. I have loving support from my wife and financial support when needed from my Dad. When the sun comes up the strongest person is the one on his bike. Good Luck in your recovery and endeavors.

Salut Saul!

Saul,
I rode with you and Dave up Emigration Canyon on Friday. It was great to meet you and ride with you. I understand how hard a comback this must be, I am a physical therapist and can relate to your rehab process. Keep Raisin He** and I look forward to watching you return to the pro tour.

Hi Saul,
I wanted to take the opportunity to personally thank you for taking the time to talk to myself and the students of Aurora University on our visit to CTS in Colorado Springs. We all learned so much by witnessing your testing session and learned even more by hearing your personal story. You are a true testiment to what hard work, dedication, and perseverance is capable of. Best of luck with all of your training. Just know that you have a big group out in the Chicago area that is pulling for you!
Keep on riding!!!

Saul I have followed your story and wish you well. I'm riding The amputees across america ride, from LA to Miami may-july. We stop and speak in Clorado springs next month. I'm a coma survivor myself, so I empathize with you. My coma was stroke induced but I was 10 days at home unattended, so I almost checked out! I'm not the athlete you are and am 51 so I struggle with balance and silly stuff, no fine motor in my hands so I use Freddie F stone brakes! I finished Silver in 05 CP (t&F)worlds so I cheer for your come back. Be patient and push your pedals.

Hello Saul,

A very heartfelt thank you for allowing us to witness your test at the CTS on 5/16/07. You were most gracious to allow us the photos and to hear your inspirational story! To see you still training in the mountains later that day was testimony to your perseverance and incredible spirit. You are an amazing young man that I consider my good fortune to have met. I look forward to reading your book and watching you win the Tour de France!!!

Hi Saul,
My son's PT just gave me an article about you from a PT magazine. My son, Ross Dillon suffered massive brain injuries 5 years ago when a car going 50+ m/h veered into the bike lane where he was riding. I noticed that you were planning to be here for the Tour of California in February. We were out on the road with cycling friends to watch the peleton go by our home. You can read about Ross at www.rossdillon.com. Our best to you.

Hey Saul, sounds like things are moving right along for you (and Aleeza). I took some photos of your Raisin Hope Ride for Procycling. The June edition is out now, and I'm happy to say they used some of my photos. Check out the photos and, of course, the article written by JoE Silva.

Keep on pedalin'.
