Hey Saul! Do you remember us? We met at Dave\'s house at the book signing and at his mother, Lynda\'s house on Saturday June 30. We are his nieces. If you dont remember then maybe this will help. You told us to lie about how smart we were and if we said that we got a 1500 on our SAT\'s you would believe us. And you told us that you met a man in the hospital that drove dangerously and almost died and you told us to drive safely. You also told us to be friends with everyone during school (even the nerds) Do you remember us now? If you dont thats okay we will forgive you! Ha ha! Goodluck in your next upcoming race! We\'ll be cheering you on! We hope Dave invites you over again! You are AWESOME! Hope to see you soon! Congrats on the wedding!

I saw you out and about yesterday rollin' on Highland Dr. At first I thought to my self who’s the poser in the all Credit Agricole Kit hauling down the road. As I got closer I realized it was you.

I'm enjoying reading your book - well, so much as anyone can enjoy reading about all the pain that went on in your recovery. But it's a good story, and a fine addition to the literature on recovery from brain injury. The father of a friend of mine suffered a severe brain injury this winter, so I had been reading all the books. Unfortunately he didn't survive, as is so often the case. 
 
Are you in touch with Ross Dillon's family? He is a cyclist who was injured by a car several years ago. His story is at www.rossdillon.com. I'm sure they'd love your input too.

I am a master cyclist and organizer of the old Tour LeFleur and the 2000 Olympic Trials here in Jackson.  
 
I wanted to bring to your attention the story of Samuel Lane, a Jackson native and UGA student who suffered a major head injury on his bike the weekend of the Twiglight in Athens this past spring. Samuel is currently in rehab here is Jackson.

Been reading bits and pieces about your recovery. I just ordered your book after reading the first 2 chapters on line.  
 
You are an inspiration to us all. You proved that a positive attitude is big part of healing.

My Lord! What a journey! You have gone beyond inspiring me. I'm a 48 yr old who starting riding 3 years ago. Just finished reading your book (Dave Shields is also awesome). My wife (Karen) and I have been deeply touched by your struggle and conquest. God has great things in store for you, Saul! You can believe that!

Just finished your Book, "Tour de Life, from coma to competition". A great read - couldn't put it down. I have been a big fan of yours - since you won The Best Young Rider at the TdG. I have followed your return and have participated in both of your "Raisin Rides" out of Dalton. I also spoke with you and your parents during the USPro Championships in Greenville. I look forward to being there again this year to see you win the TT ! Keep training and Raisin Hope !

Hi Saul, your story is a source of encouragement for others that have suffer a TBI. My cycling teammate, Ryan McKnab, crashed while racing about 3.5 weeks ago here in Oregon, and was in a coma for several days. He is now struggling through his recovery in a Eugene rehabilitation center...and is doing very well!

Thanks for the warming comments on our guestbook, Mom and Dad Raisin! My husband, Ryan McKnab, a TBI survivor, is becoming more and more active every day, and also more aware of his condition. This has been an emotionally tough step for him, and I imagine Saul went through the same emotions--a strong, fit young man waking up to all these massive injuries. I wanted you to know I told Ryan yesterday that there was a pro racer (you) who had a head injury and was back on the bike racing a year later. Ryan said, "Really?" and was instantly cheered. I bought your book online today to read aloud to Ryan (at least until his vision gets better and he can read it himself). Of course, each recovery story depends on each individual case, but I truly hope yours can push Ryan to achieve the best recovery possible, even to be on a bike by the end of the year. Thanks for the inspiration and communication.

Glad to hear you are on the mend! I hope that you get to race again soon! if you are ever in Arizona look us up we can direct you to some great places to ride. i'm with the Ace Asphalt team here in AZ and know Mike Jones and Erik Saunders pretty well, i've ridden with SoProJones but not Erok. I followed the posts on saunder's site just after your crash, we were then and are now pulling for you and hope that you get to realize your full potential as a racer!

I got a nice note from your Mom responding to an e-mail I sent you. I have a friend in the Park City area that would be a great person to ride with. We worked together at Specialized. He's a pro mtn biker but trains on the road and is a national caliber 'cross racer. Check you e-mails and give him a shout.  
I'll be paying close attention to the US Pro TT Championships. Good luck, I know you'll train smart and hard for it.

Dude you are a class act...I walked into Contender today and you were in there offering to send a copy of your book to one of the guys in the shop. I had heard about your wreck and am pumped to see that you are doing good.

My husband, Ryan McKnab, was badly injured 2 weeks ago in the last 500 m or so of a road race, and I received a message from your parents on our blog where we update his condition. As I sit here next to Ryan at 1:15 am in the Portland hospital, I surfed on over to your website. Your recovery is truly amazing and an inspiration. I will be locating a copy of your book ASAP; I'm sure it will help us understand Ryan's recovery.
