Saul, Just finished your remarkable book, which I bought from Dave Shields at the Tour of Missouri in KC. We spent 9 days with our son in intensive care after a bike-car collision when he was 12. He is now 32 and doing well - to be married in November. I also have kyphosis and have had broken bones and a concussion from cycling - and still love it! Keep up your amazing story - we will all stay tuned.

Reading your book was an emotional experience. Not only what you went through but what your parents went through. Your family has such courage. On a recent ride my Daughter Denise (7) hooked a bridge on the trail and took a header. I picked her up, dusted her off and started all over again. It was later that we discovered a crack in her helmet. We replaced it right away. Without it we can only wonder. God bless you, Jim and Yvonne.

Saul,
I just finished your book. I really enjoyed it. My grandson was in a car wreck in 2005. Your experiences took me back to that time. He was in a coma for aboyt 10 days. He was then transferred to Sheperd's Center. I remember all the things you described about it. He also went tp Pathways. He too, was not expected to live and if he did would probably have permanent disabilities. He missed his 11th and 12th grades, but now has his GED and will be starting college in October. He has come a long way, like you. I am going to try to get him to read the book. It might help to inspire him to keep fighting. He still has a way to go.
My son and I are both cyclists and my wife rides some. She and I go to the Silver Comet Trail and ride a few times a week. I hope to see you on the top step of the podium in Paris soon.

My wife Linda and I attended the Pro Cycling Championships in Greenville to ride the Palmetto Peloton Project cancer ride and watch the Pro races. Saul, you made us all very proud in your first Pro race back. We were at the finish line of the time trial. What a victory! Just to compete again must have felt great.
I am a 12 year cancer survivor and went through my own tribulation in 1995 - kindred spirits we are.
We'll be cheering for you, Saul, and your Credit Agricole teammates in the next Tour De France! Loved your book. Train hard!

Saul,
I just watch the CNN interview and it brought back a lot of emotions from last year. My eyes puddled-up a little when I saw your face as you were hugging your mom. Now that I have a son, I understand more the pain and how scared your parents were. I, also, understand just how proud they are of you, to come as far as you have. I am so happy for you. Bon chance in ’08!

Dear Mr. Raisin,

Congratulations on your recovery. I have not had the chance to read your book, but look forward to it. Your dedication to all the TBI survivors is very important. There is still alot which needs to addressed for this type of injury, as I am sure you know. I can not tell you all the frustrations I have gone through, but I know you know.
So please keep doing whatever you can to spread the word. Also stress the importance of helmet safety, research and development, why is cancer so well funded....that just my two cents.
Great to see you on the bike again.

Saul...just finished reading your book minutes ago and it was terrific. My wife bought it for me and it was tremendously inspirational as I too am a TBI cyclist survivor who was hurt on a bike (one morning while training with 2 others and hit by a truck). Your work ethic and positive attitude are more than commendable and as you wish in your book...an inspiration and motivation to many. Still seeking 100% healing (am close according to me!!) but you give us all hope that total recovery is just up the road. Keep raisin hell and I will be following your moves.

Thanks again for putting your story in print for all to appreciate, understand and look forward!

You don't look mean. You just look like a normal superhero returning to the top of your game! Kick some butt and next time you a camera go bug eyed and open your mouth up wide and stick out your tongue! Then you will look super mean and super cool!

Saul,

I finished your book a few days ago, I picked it up from Dave Shields down in KC. I have followed your story since your accident, and just hoped that one day you would return, but now to read about what happened in such powerful words and emotions have changed everything for me. I thought that tearing the AC joint in my shoulder during a crash was bad, but nothing compared to what it could have happened, or to what you have gone through. I definelty used to take every race that I did for granted, but now I will look at each one as an amazing experience because you never know what that next turn can bring. There is no words to express my gratitude to you for having the courage to share your story, and to continue to strive in the face of adversity. Next year will be truly special and I look forward to seeing you on the bike and in the peloton, and hopefully one day I'll get my book signed by you as well. You truly are an inspiration in our sport and my hero. I just wanted to let you know that you have changed my life and for that I am eternally grateful.

:) Hey Saul,, Aleeza, & "Boys",
I finally finished your book and I can not put into words, the feelings the special & wonderful, but very heart wrenching words meant to me. I can say that from having a biker for awhile, til Justin discovered other crazy, fun things, I can only imagine what you family and other friends experienced during that time. It took me a while to get thru those very hard days your parents had to deal with, and not only your health at the time, but there loss of understanding everyone around them. But, there were, it seems a lot of very helpful and caring people. We love you and your family, and really wish we could see more of everyone.
Good Luck to you in not just your race to come back 100%, but especially your upcoming marriage. Aleeza, you have an extroidinarily remarkable fiance!! Hope to meet you personally one day soon!! :)

It's great to see you doing so well! As a fellw TBI victim, I understand what a long road it can be to recovery. Things change fast during the first 6 months or so, but other things take longer, like several years. Keep up the good work, and keep the faith!

Hi Saul, I met you this week at the local gas station Mavrick, and we talked and you told me to check out your website and tell my husband I meet you, well I did and all I can say is wow you are one amazing person.
When I called my husband and told him I met you he was so excited. He told me about your book and what you have been through the past year and I wish he was with me when we met and talked. But we got your book today and I can't wait to read it! I hope you continue to move forward toward all your dreams! You are going to make whatever dreams you have come true, you have that kind of spirit! I wish you the best and I hope that one day we run into each other again, and my husband will be able to meet you as well. Good Luck! Sue sue.griffiths@hsc.utah.edu

I spoke to Dave Shields in Greenville, picked up Tour de Life (autographed - thanks) and The Race. Wow, I'm only about 100 pages into it, but it's going to be great.

Stay cool - Good Luck!
